Shawnee is the home to Old Town Shawnee, an outdoor Museum showing what life was like from the 1840's to the early 1920's.  It is located at 11501 W. 57th Street  three blocks west of Nieman Road.  The town includes a home, a school, a post office, a chapel, a fire station and various businesses and gardens.

Shawnee, Kansas was rated in the top 25 best affordable subrubs in the United States in November 2006 by Business Week online.

It is a safe commuity with great schools and friendly neighborhoods.


The Shawnee Farmers Market is located in the City Hall Parking lot on the corner of Johnson Drive and Nieman Road.  It is open from May to October.
